COLATA1983 Etna Rosso DOC

The view is immediately captivated by the deep evolving ruby red nuances

Approach to the vinous nose, typical of Nerello Mascalese , and intense with elegant notes of black cherries and morello cherries, aromas of spices and liquorice intrigue its rich bouquet

The mouth immediately captures the lively initial freshness accompanied by a very subtle flavor .

Immediately afterwards in the center it expands juicy and enveloping thanks to a dense texture of soft and velvety tannins supported by a fresh acidity .

The finish on the palate expresses a strong and persistent taste. Slow and long fermentation on the skins at a controlled temperature.

After malolactic fermentation, a short refinement begins in steel and concrete and then continues a period in wood and bottle

The 1983 eruption of Etna lasted 131 days and destroyed the Etna cable car, various restaurants and commercial activities in the stretch between Nicolosi and the Rifugio Sapienza.

Also known for the first attempt in the world to divert the flow by means of explosives, it produced approximately 100 million cubic meters of lava material.
